The following are some basic hair care tips that you can use to improve the health and look of your hair:
Shampooing and Conditioning
Avoid shampooing your hair two many times a week. In general, once a week for dry damaged hair. 2-3 times a week for dry and every other day for normal/oily. If you need to wash your hair every day, be sure to use a very gentle shampoo, followed by a conditioner or a conditioning rinse. Also add a leave treatment like INDIAN INFUSION. Add a few drops to your hair once a week to protect your hair from becoming dehydrated from excessive shampooing, and heat. You may also add a few drops to your shampoo and conditioner. Definitely try putting it on your hair before you shampoo and leave on over night when possible. Add to your hair before using any kind of heat or before swimming.
NORMAL/DRY HAIR
Shampoo your hair once or twice a week maximum. Use a gentle shampoo for normal to dry hair. Lather once. If you need to lather twice, be very gentle the second time. Rinse your hair very well to make sure all shampoo is out. Choose natural ingredients over chemical ingredients. Ingredients containing protein, vitamins and essential fatty acid replenish moisture to dry hair.
DRY/DAMAGED HAIR or FRIZZY HAIR
Dry hair or frizzy hair is lacking in moisture and protein. Shampoo your hair once a week. Longer if you don’t perspire a lot. Use a gentle shampoo for your hair type. Lather only once. Too much lather in your shampoo means that your hair is being stripped of all the moisture. Avoid shampoos with too much lather. Rinse your hair very well after shampooing. Use a conditioner containing essential fatty acids, protein and vitamins. Use oil containing essential fatty acids before shampooing and before a chemical process.
NORMAL/OILY
Use an appropriate amount of shampoo for your hair length. Only lather once. Over lathering the hair doesn’t make the hair less oily. If you need to lather twice, be extra gentle with the second lathering. The more you lather the more you stimulate the oil glands in your hair, resulting in more oil. Rinse well to make sure all shampoo is out of hair. Make sure that your shampoo contains natural ingredients over chemical ingredients. Because your hair is oily, it doesn’t mean that you don’t need conditioner. Your hair may become dehydrated if you do not replenish it with moisture. Choose a light conditioner for oily hair.
RELAXED HAIR
Follow tips for Dry/damaged hair, relaxed hair is robbed of moisture and essential fatty acids. Oil your hair and scalp generously prior to a relaxer. Consider using Indian Infusion to protect the hair from the chemicals and help restore the balance. After the relaxer is washed out reapply the oil before the conditioner and leave on for 30 or longer if possible. Use hair oil every day to repair and strengthen the cuticles.
COLORED TREATED HAIR
Follow the tips dry hair, peroxide can damage and strip the hair of it moisture. If you have color treated hair, please read Dry Hair (above) first. When you have your hair color treated the For all hair types: It’s a good idea to occasionally wash your hair with just water. No shampoo. Let the water run over your hair for a few minutes use a light conditioner and a few drops of oil. Give your hair a break from the harshness of the shampoo. Unless you are using a very mild 100% natural organic shampoo. Consider using oil before shampooing to protect the hair and scalp from becoming dry.
DRYING HAIR
All Hair Types Heat can be very damaging to the hair. Pat your hair dry with a towel before you start blow drying. Use a few drops of oil, protect the hair and help speed of the drying process. Use your blow dryer on low setting. Keep the blow dryer moving around and away from the hair. Use a wide teeth comb and with smooth tips thru your wet hair. Hair is very fragile when it’s wet. Never brush wet hair.
